1. Agreement to Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Maren ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. What Maren is (and is not)

Maren is a personal tracking and insight tool for cycles, mood, and symptoms. It is not a medical device, not a contraceptive, and does not provide medical advice or guarantees about fertility, ovulation, or pregnancy prevention. Predictions are statistical estimates based on your own entries and may be inaccurate, especially for irregular cycles. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical decisions.

3. Your data

• Your health entries are stored only on your device (local SwiftData store). They are never uploaded to iCloud, CloudKit, or any developer-operated server. There is no cross-device sync.
• If you explicitly use Export, encrypted manual backup, Apple Health, or the paired Apple Watch companion, selected data is handed to the Apple system feature or user-selected file destination described in the Privacy Policy; it is still never sent to a developer-operated server.
• Raw CSV/PDF and clinician-report files are not encrypted. Password-encrypted .marenbackup files require the password you choose; Maren cannot recover that password. You are responsible for safely storing exported files and passwords.
• The developer does not operate a server that stores your health data, does not sell, rent, or share your data, and does not use it for advertising.
• You can export records, create/import an encrypted backup, or permanently delete local Maren data from within the App, free of charge. Previously exported files must be deleted from their selected destinations separately.

4. Accounts & sign-in

Maren has no user accounts. HealthKit integration uses your existing Apple Health authorization. We do not collect your name, email, or password.

5. Purchases (Maren Premium)

• Maren is Freemium: core tracking, basic prediction, daily quotes, and data export are free forever. An optional Maren Premium subscription / one-time purchase unlocks additional features (e.g., personal insights, advanced reminders).
• Purchases are processed by Apple via StoreKit. StoreKit provides the App with a verified entitlement state on your device; the developer does not collect your payment details or entitlement status on a developer server.
• Subscriptions renew automatically. Payment is charged to your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase, and your subscription renews unless you turn it off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscriptions at any time in your App Store account settings. A one-time (lifetime) purchase is a single payment valid indefinitely.
• Prices are shown in the App and on the App Store, in your local currency, and may change with notice. Restoring a previous purchase is available in Settings.

6. Acceptable use

You agree to use the App only for lawful personal purposes and not to misuse, reverse-engineer, or interfere with its operation. You are responsible for the accuracy of the data you enter.

7. Availability

The App is provided "as is" without warranties. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. Features may change or be removed with notice. HealthKit integration depends on Apple's services and your device configuration.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data arising from use of the App. Your use is at your own risk.

9. Children

Maren is not directed to children under 13 (under 16 in the EEA/UK).

10. Changes

We may update these Terms and will update the effective date above. Material changes will be surfaced in-App.
